“Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head…when each part is working properly, [it] makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” These two phrases found in Ephesians 4:15-16 answer the question so often asked: “What’s wrong with my church?” God will move us around in the Body of Christ for legitimate reasons, but more often than not, people become dissatisfied that their “needs are not getting met”. But here in theses verses it points the needle in a different direction, the root problem is we need to “grow up in every way”. “Working properly” includes three elements: truth, love and work. “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap,” Galatians 6:7 (ESV). God will do for you what you make happen for others. So, I must lovingly get to work and grow up. No excuses. Father make me an effective instrument of Your love and a blessing to all.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
