“The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it,” Matthew 13:45-46 (NKJV). This parable and the one’s surrounding it in Matthew 13 are not about “making good business deals”, they are about the Kingdom of God and the priority it should have in our lives. Advancing the Kingdom requires more than our spare change, spare time and leftover calendar openings. Many worry about their sinful actions when in fact, the greater sin may be their sinful inactions as stewards. We often talk about our Time, Talents and Treasures and our stewardship of them. While it is a helpful subject, we almost always miss the point. It is NOT OUR TIME, OUR TALENTS or OUR TREASURES. These are loaned to us by God for us to prioritize and steward properly. To make good Kingdom choices we must have Kingdom priorities. LORD and Father, all that I am, all that I have, all that I do is Yours. Teach me to live with Your priorities, not my own.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
