“Go to the ant, O lazy one; Observe her ways and be wise,” Proverbs 6:6 ESV. Life will continuously teach us lessons if we pay attention since our Heavenly Father weaves His understanding and wisdom into every aspect of His creation. As an example, like ripe fruit dangling on a low-hanging limb, knowledge and understanding are easily within reach at any moment. However, we must pay attention to reap the benefits of low-hanging fruit. But excuses come easier than actions. And while failure is painful, it is also a convenient alternative to the hard work success requires. So, we think: “If only I had fame, or more money, or were better looking, then…!” Frankly, what we possess makes only a minimal difference. But WHO POSSESSES US makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE! Desire, passion, and vision far outweigh fame and fortune. LORD, I am Yours. Possess my heart, mind, soul, strength, and use me for Your Glory.
A serious pursuit of godliness requires an equally serious renunciation of worldliness. Too often, we measure spirituality with false scales. While being wisely selective with our public vices we are less so with our private attitudes and perspectives. In reality, it is the thoughts and intents of the heart where the greatest battles must be waged; our actions will ultimately align with the condition of our hearts. Lord God, You know me inside out, You are not fooled by human facades. Plow my heart with Your Word and Spirit and leave nothing unturned. Refresh my inward man that I may outwardly glorify You in all places at all times.
