“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord,” Romans 12:11 ESV. God’s children must be zealous. Fervency applied without good judgment can be brutal or even destructive, but faith without fervor is useless. Like food left abandoned in the back of the refrigerator, zealousness will eventually expire; its value is sadly lost down the disposal for lack of use. God is zealous, yet with the counterbalance of divine wisdom and perfect love. Zeal must first be bathed in wisdom and love before applied. Lord, grant me ardor, determination, devotion, diligence, drive, eagerness, earnestness, enterprise, fire, gusto, inclination, initiative, intensity, passion, perseverance, readiness, sincerity, spirit, stick-to-itiveness, urgency, and wisdom this new day. Use me today to be Your hands extended to everyone I encounter.
