“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose,” Romans 8:28 (ESV). There are times when it feels like I’m teetering over the edge of a steep cliff. Though I am never actually comfortable in these circumstances I have learned that instances such as these are qualifying moments. A plunge over the brink will often look like ruin outwardly, only to ultimately be turned into an inward revival of faith, trust, obedience and the joy that only these defining moments can provide. It seems that God has chosen for me to live on the edge, but honestly, I really wouldn’t have it any other way. Precious Father, in Your care I am safe no matter the circumstances. Wherever Your Will leads I will follow. Keep me attuned to every nudge of Your guiding Hand. Bring ruin to my earthly ways and revival to my soul through obedience to Yours! So be it LORD!
A serious pursuit of godliness requires an equally serious renunciation of worldliness. Too often, we measure spirituality with false scales. While being wisely selective with our public vices we are less so with our private attitudes and perspectives. In reality, it is the thoughts and intents of the heart where the greatest battles must be waged; our actions will ultimately align with the condition of our hearts. Lord God, You know me inside out, You are not fooled by human facades. Plow my heart with Your Word and Spirit and leave nothing unturned. Refresh my inward man that I may outwardly glorify You in all places at all times.
