One thing about miracles is that they never look like miracles until they are finished. As the children of Israel were released from slavery in Egypt and headed back to the Promised Land, God guided them in a direction that trapped them between the Red Sea and the pursuing Egyptian Army. But He did it with a greater purpose: “When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near. For God said, ‘Lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt.’ But God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea.” Exodus 13:17-18 (ESV). Yes, toward the Red Sea! It was God’s intent from the start to not simply deliver them from their enemy, but to destroy their enemy. Their steps of obedience led them to a miraculous victory. Holy Father. I get it. I must trust Your Heart even when I cannot understand Your Command. LORD, Your Ways, not mine.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
