“So, we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us,” 1 John 4:16 (ESV). There is a huge distinction between “knowing” something is possible and “acting” upon that knowledge. Most people who believe in God think He loves them but are not sure enough to act upon that love toward Him or others. But like faith, true love requires actions, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments,” John 14:15 (ESV). The failure to act upon God’s love is what most often sets us back in our spiritual growth. For instance, to give something up we treasure or to offer help to someone else when we ourselves have needs both require BELIEVING God loves us and KNOWING God loves us; it means believing His love toward us is genuine and has endless supply. LORD thank You for pushing me deeper into acting upon Your love. Use me to be Your helping and comforting hand to those I encounter each day.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
