“And he said to them, ‘Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of one's possessions’,” Luke 12:15 ESV. Coveting is a pernicious and deceptive sin. It may begin as an innocent attraction, interest, or admiration, but it leads to destruction. In fact, covetousness is akin to worshiping a false God according to Colossians 3:5, “covetousness, which is idolatry”. Covetousness is a renunciation of trust in God’s divine care and leads us to believe no desire should ever be denied us, no matter how wrong. A covetous heart cannot love anyone purely but self. Thankfulness, on the other hand, leads us to the Light. A grateful heart opens the way to unlimited peace and inexhaustible love since it focuses on the Provider, not the provision. O Lord My Shepherd, cleanse my heart from earthly entanglements. Grant me a true love for You and others.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
