“Those who are well, have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners,” Mark 2:17 ESV. I am in the debt of those who have been used of God to help mend my soul; there are so many. Some have opened new treasures for me, while others made huge withdrawals. Yet, in either case, God has used people to help shape me into a better man. Like surgical instruments in the hands of the Great Physician, the LORD has sent people into my life to cut away what harms me from within. Sometimes I had resented those used for the deepest cuts, only later to realize that they did me a great good, even when they intended otherwise. Like a patient needing serious surgery, my confidence is not in the quality of the scalpel; my assurance is in the surgeon in whose hands it works. Father, keep me under the knife and thank You for all whom You choose to use. I trust your choices and Your steady hand.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
