“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name,” Psalm 91:14 ESV. There are many names for God in the Bible, but why are there so many different monikers? The Lord, Our God’s greatness is simply beyond the capacity of one word to characterize His Majesty and Awesomeness. Like individual facets on a diamond, each name reflects the light of His Glory a little differently, each one reckoning upon different aspects of His power. His Names are not merely a moniker. When we speak His name in any biblical form, we are reckoning upon His very nature and power to transform. His Name is not to be used as if it were a magical incantation; one’s heart must seek the Lord Himself as we call on His Name. El Shaddai, Elohim, Yahweh, LORD, to declare Your Name releases unquenchable joy and unmatchable power! In Your Name, it is well, it is well with my soul!
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
