“In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps,” Proverbs 16:9 NIV. We each spend countless hours planning for things that never happen. Most of what has actually occurred in my life I never planned for at all. I am at peace with that, having accepted that God establishes my steps. The Bible promises: “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail,” Isaiah 58:11 ESV. The LORD is working me into His plan, not the other way around. I will not cease making new plans, but not without His guidance. I will do my best to hold my plans loosely, knowing that God is in control and has the final authority. Father, I trust Your infinite wisdom. What comfort there is in leaning on Your Everlasting Arms! You work all things for our good and grant us joy divine.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
