MERELY HUMAN

“For when one says, ‘I follow Paul,’ and another, ‘I follow Apollos,’ are you not being merely human?” 1 Corinthians 3:4 ESV.  The call to us from heaven is for us to die to selfish pride.  The apostle Paul rebukes the Corinthians for prideful self-identification with different apostles! Christians still foolishly do this this with thinly veiled arrogant attitudes: “I attend FIRST Church”,  “I listen to the BEST radio pastor”, “we have our OWN church at home”.  These kinds of self-identifiers are VERY OFTEN rooted in pride.  There is one Church, one faith, one Body of Christ. LORD, purge my heart of pride. May the humility of Christ be my daily standard.
