“I lay down and slept; awoke, for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten-thousands of people Who have set themselves against me all around,” Psalm 3:5-6 NKJV. I’ve had a few detractors over a lifetime, but never have I had “ten-thousands of people” set against me! But David was not losing sleep over it. The safest place in the world is to confidently be in the will of God. The day before we were to open the first evangelical bible school in the Soviet Union I was in a private home and had three separate groups of visitors in one day. The first, was the local KGB officer in Jelgava, Latvia. Later, a much more powerful KGB executive from the region came to see me. Finally, an entire entourage of cars filled with men in suits from the capitol arrived to deliver the same message: “It is STRICTLY FORBBIDEN” to open this Bible School!” I was afraid but confident we had God’s blessing and we opened the next day. From that school, hundreds of pastors went forth and untold millions came to Jesus across the Soviet Union. LORD, grant me the courage to remain ever obedient to Your Will.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
