“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow,” Psalm 51:7 ESV. A snowstorm can swiftly blanket the countryside, transforming the brown landscape of winter into a snowy wonderland. In the same manner, and by the same Mighty Hand that transforms our surrounding scenery, each new day my sins are blanketed by God’s mercy and my soul is restored. He diminishes my fears, moderates my imaginings, and destroys my tormentors. He transforms my sadness into shouts of joy, dispels my doubts, and calms my turmoil. He is the LORD of Hosts, My Glory, and the Lifter of My Head! O LORD, My God, and My King, You are great and greatly to be praised! Thank You for Your Daily Care and Constant Love. May my heart never forget Your Goodness and Mercy, not even for a moment. Use me to help others do the same.
A serious pursuit of godliness requires an equally serious renunciation of worldliness. Too often, we measure spirituality with false scales. While being wisely selective with our public vices we are less so with our private attitudes and perspectives. In reality, it is the thoughts and intents of the heart where the greatest battles must be waged; our actions will ultimately align with the condition of our hearts. Lord God, You know me inside out, You are not fooled by human facades. Plow my heart with Your Word and Spirit and leave nothing unturned. Refresh my inward man that I may outwardly glorify You in all places at all times.
