BLESSED BLINDERS

Though big, beautiful and powerful, horses are “flight animals”, that is, their main defense is to flee danger. Even the calmest horse can react with sudden, uncontrolled panic to get away from a perceived threat. Blinders are used to keep a horse focused on what is in front of it, protecting it from being distracted or scared by what is behind or to its side. Maintaining a constant focus on God’s call and mission for our lives has the same effect, moving our focus from potential dangers and keeping us on track. Blessed Lord, shade my eyes from earthly distractions. Keep me focused on Your will and deliver me from unnecessary fears.
