“Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin” (Ezekiel 18:30, NKJV). As absurd as it sounds, I have attempted at times to manipulate God while praying. In classic Wizard of Oz fashion, praying with a sincere need while silently hoping that He would “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.” Well, it doesn’t work like that, His attention is precisely upon the man behind the curtain. Nailed. He, who has no pretense whatsoever, is intolerant of it in His children and no obfuscation of the truth is allowed. We must own our failures and turn away from them, “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation” (2 Corinthians 7:10, NKJV). If we are genuinely repentant we will make a serious commitment reverse direction. Father, forgive my insolence. I love Your truth and want to walk fully in it. Strip away all falsehood in me that I may come before You with clean hands and a clean heart.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
