“Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself,” John 20:7 ESV. I do not pretend to understand what the folded napkin means, but I know what it means to me. I see that through His through His death, burial, and resurrection removes my shame, and I will see God face to face! I see in that folded napkin that God pays attention to every detail. I see in that folded napkin Jesus “spiking the ball” at Lucifer’s feet; only the Lamb has the power of eternal life! Theological arguments remain as to whether the original Greek words read, “neatly folded’ or “thrown aside’. I like both possibilities! I either case, Satan is defeated, and I will face God as a son of the Living God! Gracious Father, thank You for our glorious salvation.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
