“He reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness; and the light dwells with Him,” Daniel 2:22 ESV. Things are never quite as they seem on the surface; they are actually better or worse than we perceive. Our situation in this world is comparable to a quiet, pond. While the sky and surrounding scenery reflect serenely on its surface, underneath it is a different world. One fish is tragically becoming a “happy meal” for another while others are hiding in terror or stalking their next prey while still others sleep. For us, in this world, there are moments of love and happiness, joy and sorrow, prosperity, and poverty. But what we see is not all there is. 1 Corinthians 15:19 reveals, “If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.” My hope and happiness are not derived from what I see, but from “The Light” God has for me now and forever. Open my eyes, LORD, to see Your Glory at all times.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
