“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name,” Psalm 100:4 ESV. You can’t keep a worshipper’s heart down. Praise of our Heavenly Father lifts our hearts beyond our circumstances and takes us into the presence of The LORD of LORDS: The more I worship Him, the more I love Him. The more I love Him, the smaller life’s difficult circumstances become. The smaller our fears become, the greater our faith grows! I can praise God in silence, I can shout to Him out loud, I can bow my face to the ground in His Presence, and I can praise Him by quietly, steadily obeying His commands. The moment praise begins, transformation ignites! It happens from the inside out! O LORD My Father, I lift up my heart in praise. Forgive my wanderings into the valley of self-obsession and help me to dance upon the mountaintop of praise.
A serious pursuit of godliness requires an equally serious renunciation of worldliness. Too often, we measure spirituality with false scales. While being wisely selective with our public vices we are less so with our private attitudes and perspectives. In reality, it is the thoughts and intents of the heart where the greatest battles must be waged; our actions will ultimately align with the condition of our hearts. Lord God, You know me inside out, You are not fooled by human facades. Plow my heart with Your Word and Spirit and leave nothing unturned. Refresh my inward man that I may outwardly glorify You in all places at all times.
