“The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever,” Psalm 121:8 NTL. The journey to or from the Western Hemisphere to the Eastern requires all-day and all-night-long flights. A difficult period of restless sleep is the norm, but so much happens while I doze. On these global treks, busy pilots navigate through dangers, flight attendants take care of passengers, powerful engines strain against gravity and weather conditions, all the while I am mostly unaware of the scene around me. And so, it is with life in general. Each day I live mostly unaware of how dependent I am on heaven’s helping hand. Without my slightest notice, prophecies are fulfilled, angels carry out their assignments, prayers are answered, and my steps are “ordered by the LORD.” Lord, forgive my sleepy presumptuousness. Thank You for safely carrying me through each day. Use me to do Your bidding this new day.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
