The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out,” Proverbs 18:15 ESV. The key to the clarity of sight through a set of binoculars is learning how to adjust the lens until we get the proper focus. We must not only look in the right direction; we must also learn the intricacies of “dialing in.” Orienting our hope in the “unseen” is the same process. To turn to God is the beginning of hope, but we must learn to “dial-in” to the Promises found in the Word of God and seek the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit to maintain clarity. Placing hope in anything but the Word and Spirit of the LORD Almighty is a recipe for disaster; no mortal substitute will do. Lord of Hope, forgive my wandering eyes. You alone are my sure foundation and constant salvation. My heart is safely in Your hands.
