“I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,” John 10:14 ESV. Though I see My Redeemer as if I’m looking through a window that hasn’t been washed in many years, I know Him in very personal ways. I know His voice. I know His love. I know His power. I know His discipline. But one day, I will see Him “as He is”. The apostle John wrote: “Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is,” 1 John 3:2 ESV. This verse is so intriguing, especially the words “as He is”. They make it clear that whatever I think about Him now falls short of reality. Though I feel that I love Him now, the truth is, I don’t really know Him “as He is” but one day I shall. The words to the song by MercyMe come to mind: “I can only imagine what my eyes will see, When Your face is before me, I can only imagine”. LORD, I await the day.
“This is the day that the LORD has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24 ESV. The table is set for a brand-new day. Only God knows exactly what is already prepared for my arrival in it. I must now leave behind days gone by and ready myself for new insight, a higher life, and greater things. Am I up for what today will bring? Only the day will tell, but the One who provides it will also carry me through it. One thing is sure; I will walk upon on sacred footprints since the Alpha and Omega has already trod this moment in advance, sprinkling blessings and divine opportunities throughout. I must pay attention so I don’t miss a thing He has placed along the path. Lord God, Lover of My Soul, today is the day You have made; I am so good with that and already rejoicing in what is to unfold. Lift me in Your arms and carry me through with faith, joy, and purpose.
